i recently purchased a 915 D2 driver it has a diamana red 50 shaft. I live in a very rural setting no fitters even close. Small golf store about 100 miles from here suggested that shaft. Never felt right so I put a graphite design YS-6 in it much better. But I am left wondering is There still yet a better option. I have a swing speed between 86-93 mph am a good ball striker, average drive is 239 total. Any suggestions?

Titleist has done a great job in offering several very good shafts for the new 915 drivers. Take a day trip to where ever you need to go to try them all. A pro-fitting would be in your best intrest. That takes all the guess work out of it. Titlelist makes the best products in golf. They are not cheap. You get what you pay for. Good Luck.

    Play Well,

    Dwayne,

I could recommend the shaft I am currently using in my 913, but it may not be what you are looking for.  Besides, it sounds like you've already tried two different shafts and aren't satisfied with either of them and swapping out shafts until you find one you like will get expensive.  You should use the Golf Shops & Fitting Locations pull-down menu on the Titleist home page and find a certified Titleist fitter that you can go to.  You might have to drive a little farther than you like, but in the end the fitter will help you find the right shaft for you game.

    Good luck with the process!

There are other factors, such as your swing characteristics (transition speed/shaft loading) and your launch characteristics and usual misses.  The advantage we have over the small shop is we already know you don't like the M+ 50.  A typical starting point for 86-93 (pretty wide range) would be 9.5 to 10.5 loft and a Blue, White, or Black.  A well-experienced fitter would then zero in on getting an appropriate launch and backspin to maximize your drive and minimize your dispersion pattern.  The Red could even be an option without knowing any of the details.  The difference for me between the Blue and Black was I was more consistent with the 10 g lighter Blue.  I upgraded a 913 with the 915 Blue shaft based on fitting at an Advanced Fitting Center after a retailer with an indoor studio didn't get the first shaft right.  Fortunately, the base head loft worked out with some adjustment.

Thanks guys for all the advice and yes I realize that a good fitting from a certifed fitter is the only real way to go. In this case a real LONG way to go LOL!  Working 80 hrs a week and being in a rural setting ( one traffic light in the entire county ) makes free time a luxury. I am not necessarily dissatisfied with the Graphite Design YS+6 shaft after trying the M+50 red and not liking. I pulled the G-Design out of my 913 and it preforms overall better in the 915 with the same setup.

I really wish that there was a certified fitter that I could go to and leave there knowing that beyond a shadow of a doubt that I had the very best setup to help me preform to the best of my ability. Fitters here are part-time high school kids that turn on a launch monitor and make suggestions merely on distance. They know nothing about what different shafts do to spin rate and launch angles or how they affect ball flight.

I was on vacation last year and was fitted for my Titleist irons and that was a real eye opener. Love them have no doubts that I have exactly what I need custom ordered and delivered to my door. But after that great experience I am left wondering what if I could get that fitting on this already great driver exactly what might be the potential.

Really wish I could fit a vacation in that included a regional fitting center. That's a bucket list item!

    Hi Dwayne,

Having been lucky to get fitted twice at the Manchester Lane Performance Center, I value the whole fitting experience oh so much as well! I was one of the last fittings that were done there for the year and I cannot tell you the comments I get when folks ask what the 915D2 cost me with the custom shaft, until what they see what the end result is! Like many of our TT family say, "You do get what you pay for".

I was fitted and hit 4-6 shafts both senior and regular and ended up with a Tour AD GT-5 R1 and I LOVE it! I also went with a lower lofted head 10.5 an have gained about 20 yards and reduced my spin as well!

My bucket list includes a future fitting at the Oceanside facility! Maybe after a round at Pebble again would make the return trip another memorable one!

    Hit 'email straight!

I would gladly spend the money for a fitting at a TPI center if there was remotely close to me. I would to do that

    Hey  TT,

As stated earlier do not have any real good options as fitters are concerned near me. If I drive to where I can get on a launch monitor somewhere that has a cart with different shafts. What are the numbers I should be looking for as far as spin, both back and side. And launch angle. I have a 85-90 mph swing speed and about a 135 mph ball speed with a medium tempo and smooth transition. Smash factor of 1.40. My average drive is 233 yards.

So if I go try different shafts I want to know what I am looking for. Bubba or Cathi any ideas or suggestions

    Hi Dwayne,

The range fitters typically look for is 10-14 launch with 2,200 - 2,900 RPM. Land angle takes both of these factors into account, and anything near the mid 30's is ideal. A lot of this has to deal with the player. Some golfers can not achieve their ideal launch condition because of their swing dynamics. For example, if a player is too steep, he/she will likely see low launch and higher spin.

Hopefully this gives you some direction.

Thanks Bubba this will help a lot considering I don't have access to accredited fitter. They try but with this info I can be more in the loop with what I need to trying to achieve.

Team Titleist I appreciate all the great advice and comments I made the drive on a weekend to a fitter in Nashville I took my driver with both shafts and after a talk with the fitter and swapping out a few shafts I think we have a winner. I was correct in my opinion that the Graphite Design YS+6 was the better of the two but we found another that I think is the winner. The new Rogue Silver 60 produced the best results as far as spin, launch and overall distance I am just waiting for the weather now to break. Thanks again to all of you and Bubba the advice on what numbers I was needing to look for was dead on big difference in spin and distance.
