Personally, I always like to pull a new Pro V1x out of the sleeve on the first tee. It has been a tradition for me for as long as I can remember, and to me, there's just something special about starting a round with a new golf ball. But I do have some friends that prefer to start a round with a ball that has a little previous experience making its way around a golf course. Anyway, I thought it would be interesting to see what Team Titleist has to say... [Please visit the original post to access the poll]

Personally I putt on pratice green with a sleeve of new Pro V balls after hitting pratice balls on the range to warm up. The ball that seems to roll consistently the best on the green is the one I tee off with. As the saying goes, you drive for show and putt for Dough. This has always been my routine and works winter spring, summer or fall! Players should always hit range balls before they play then you will be loose and ready!

I feel odd if i don't tee off with a new prov1. :-)

I always start with a new Pro V1x. There is something about taking out a new ball and marking it prior to the first tee that is just right. T

Always start with a new ball on my regular group weekend rounds. When playing a quick 9 after work (which I do 2-3 times weekly) I'll use one of my "experienced" balls.

Depends...if its a tourney, yes, will always start w/ a new Pro V. For casual rounds or if its bad weather, I'll more than likely use a slightly used Pro V.
Question I've always wondered though is, what is the average life cycle of a new Pro V? How many 18 hole rounds can you reasonably expect to get from a new Pro V? Or how many years are new balls good for? Do they lose their compression after a while or how can you tell if a used ball has "gone bad"?

I do most of the time, until I have about 6-8 new balls floating around in my bag from the sleeves that I opened but did not need the 2dn or 3rd ball. So then I will use those for a couple of rounds until I get the number down.

For me I like a ball with some experience off the 1st tee but one with definitely no scuffs and usually just for practice rounds and rounds with friends, but like many others if the round is for tournaments or any competition I am pulling out a new ball.

I'm a 9 handicap and usually don't hit the range before rounds. I will not tee up a brand new ball until around the 4th or 5th hole usually. For some reason I have bad luck hitting a brand new ball before the 4th or 5th, and for $5 a ball, its just not worth it to me.

Since I start at first light with no range beforehand I will pull an old ball out for the first couple of holes until I can at see the ball land. Once it is lighter I will switch to a new ball.

Yes, and every Par 5 I pull out a new ball

Never fails...the more expensive the ball, the more likely I am to lose it on the first shot.

to me bringing out a new ball at start of every round is almost like playing differnce place

I will typically start each round with a new ball. I always have a few previous used Pro V1's in the bag anyways in case things go south.

I am with you Mike. My preference is to start off the round with a nice brand new ProV1, #1. Nothing like the feeling of hitting a new ball for the first time.
Avery TLucas, TX
I will start with a used ball if it is in good shape. Other wise a new one comes out.

Early in the spring I'll use an older Pro v1, the fairways are aft and muddy near the edges. The creek that runs through my home course is usually overflowing with water from the hills in upstate NY. Once the fairways dry up and the creek water level goes down I'll then pull out my new Pro v's.!

I like to start each round with a brand new ball. Gives me a nice sense of optimism and confidence. I'll stick with that ball until I damage it, lose it, or use up all of it's birdies. I'm a firm believer that each ProV1x is built with 3 or 4 birdies in it. After I use up all the birdies, I'll throw it into the shag bag and save it for practice.
I just ordered 8 dozen Pro V1x with the Loyalty Program. Thanks, Titleist, for showing us some love! The discount and free personalization are greatly appreciated! I have a few dozen of the prior generation ball that I'll need to work through before switching to the new ball. I am excited!

I just pull out of my bag what comes to hand. If it's knackered it'll go in the practice bag.

It doesn't make a huge difference to me. If I have a used ball that is in good shape, I have no problem starting a round with it.
