I say reduce the distance the ball goes for the pro’s and keep it as is for the recreational players because we need all the help we can get. I don’t believe for a second that the balls the pros are playing are the same that I can currently buy. Secondly, I love watching golf on TV, but watching these guys hit driver 9 iron on all par 4’s and reaching every par 5 in two is boring and unrelatable. Just look at the fact that the guys that play on the Champions Tour would outdrive themselves in their prime.

    Hi, everyone.

Here's a link to Titleist's Technology and Tradition presentation that may help to add some background and context to the discussion:

    Thanks.

  3. At my course the main issue that I see is the pace of play and not the distance that us casual players are hitting the ball. As I've said on other posts on T/T the rollback of the ball will be noticed on all shots not just drives. If I hit my shots shorter I will have to take more shots to get to the green, and more shots means more time to play the round. Pace of play is as big a problem as how far the pros hit their drives. Punish the pros and leave the rest of us alone.

I can't wait to get out the wooden shafts and featheries and go play "pure golf as intended by the USGA & R&A". I can't imagine the comments in the meeting rooms that precipitated this announcement. It's time for Mike Davis to inspect the pasture and leave the game to the next generation, let players manage the equipment not memories.

Just look at how manicured the fairways are for the tour players. I might play on something like that once or twice a year. Then can not believe how much roll I got off the tee. Cut the fairways different to take out that roll. lots of times they get 40 to 50 yards of roll. In videos form years gone by the courses are not that well manicured. Would help some anyway

The tournament set up teams need to stop letting these fairways turn into concrete and water them and let them grow a little. I think Augusta does this so you don't don't get that burnt out look. I mean, carrying the ball 300 is one thing, getting another 80-100 yds of roll because of the setup is ridiculous.

The game is growing why try to get the new players to quit. Some people don't even hit the ball far enough to play the junior tees there going to have make new tees from junior and women's tee and senior tee the normal men tee will move the senior tee at least will need to be move forward a good 50-100 years. It will slowly kill the game why would new play want to struggle when can just take up another sport that they will have fun with, the USGA is full of idiots if they actually want to go thru with this. The course that are close to 8000 yard will no long be playable from tho tees I might not be like most people but I love playing courses that are long. The game is meant to be fun not a struggle just do everyone a favor and just let things go it will never go back to how the game used to be we are playing with the technology we have at the time you may make it hard for the pro but you will make people quit because players want to play what tour players play. #congratulationondestroyingthegame
