I was disappointed that I did not receive any Proto type balls to test out this year as I have in the past especially since you are no longer making my favorite golf ball the NXT Tour S. Even though I have played the ProV1 and the ProV1X at times the NXT Tour S fit my game better with all clubs. I want to know what ball replaced the NXT Tour S. I played the AVX and was not a impressed with my rounds . I played with the NXT Tour S longer than I played with any other golf ball.
So now my new search must start over, as I am down to my last box of NXT Tour S. Is anyone else going to miss the NXT line like I am ?

I am more then impressed with the 2019 proto. It is in my opinion, this pro v has more pop off of the driver then any of the pas pro v's. Also, it seems to spin more into the greens. I really hope this is next years pro V. Thanks again Titleist for putting the time and effort in to make an exceptional product!

Ok, so when are you all going to let the cat out of the bag and tell us which is which?

I loved the red numbered ball. It moved!!! Felt like every drive I crushed effortlessly. Irons went a bit higher and further than I'm used to but it one hopped to a stop on the greens. Chipping and pitch shots I was able to let it run out of have it check up so that was fantastic. It rolled very nicely off the putter. The material of the cover feels a lot different than previous generations, it's a very soft feel.

Currently waiting on my box, would love to be apart of the feedback. Tried pro v1 with TS and great results. #teamtitleist
  6. Here's my feedback:

    Ball Played: Black 2019 Prototype
    Location: Sahalee CC
Weather: Sunny mid 60s, Wind: No Factor
Turf Condition: Excellent Turf Condition, Wet Base, with morning dew on top
Greens Condiiton: Very short (college tourney the days before), very soft, no moisture on the surface

Driving: The ball drove very well, stayed very straight, but moved with draws and slices. Distance was very good, on par with expectations, and even drove well when hit off center. Ball did not have a soft feel nor could I feel the club / ball connection as with other Titleist balls.

Fairway: Ball flight was ok, again did not good club / ball connection so I didn't have a good feel.

Chipping: Ball performed well, stopped on the green and seemed to spin OK, but without a good club / ball connection, it was hard to be confident.

On the green: Ball stopped very good on the green hitting in from all positions, but the greens were very soft, so it was hard to judge. Putting was very good, true rolling. Again the ball feels hard.

Durability: Very durable. You can't play Sahalee without hitting a tree or two. No significant scuffs or gouges in the ball.

Summary: Overall, I think the ball performed well, however, it did feel too hard even on good solid contact shots.
  7. Second round, similar weather, a bit drier fairway and greens and the second round with the balls, now that I know what to expect, it was much more pleasurable. The ball really pops off the driver (M3). Everything stopped on the greens as well. Combined with my previous comments, this is a very good ball.

Today I also tried to be a hero a couple of times out of the trees and failed. The cover is super durable with no nicks or scratches on at least one direct contact of a tree off a 5 iron hit.
  8. If I just became. #TeamTitleist member today, can I still receive the prototypes to try out or no??
  9. Received and tried my Proto’s last weekend, really liked them. Longer off the tee than my current ball, I have in use.
Harder feel off the club head but added distance makes up for it. Plenty of grip around the green, cover holds up.
Good strong flight into the wind.
I’m betting on it being a ProV1x which I’ve used in the past.

I received my sleeve in the mail and am excited to try them out! Just need it to stop raining now...
  11. A buddy of mine who is a TT member gave me a black proto ball to try out. The result...my first eagle after playing for 10 years! They say it’s the Indian and not the arrow...but in my case I’m sure it was the arrow. Just signed up to be a TT member as well, and probably for life. Love everything Titleist puts out, even more so their #2019proto balls. Hey Titleist, can you send me some of these balls so I can get my first hole in one, thanks. Team Titleist For Life!

  12. Received my sleeve last week, Red Proto. I have been using Pro V1x for a while now. Spent some time on the short game at the range the day I received them. I didn’t notice any great difference. Took them out for 18 last weekend and found the durability was really good, especially after giving a couple of trees a significant nudge. Distance on the good shots was similar, around the greens there was no great change. Would like to provide more info but it has been raining for a week, so no practice and no 18 holes.
  13. I was lucky enough to get 3 of these balls and I really want to get some more! I LOVE THEM
You don’t feel them when you hit them, they go further and are great around the greens, please, please, please release them soon

  14. Maybe I am not the only one who have never received the ball. Hopefully, it comes to me this time. Thanks Titleist.
  15. How do you get the Proto Ball?

I recieved 2019 proto golf balls last week I used then in a match play tournament. I hit some of my longest drives with them they were great with wedges and i putted lights out. I'm now in the champion match. Great golf balls
  17. Thank you for sending the 2019 prototype golf balls to me.
They do not play like the V or the X. This maybe the best ball I ever putted very easy to learn short game shots around the green. Good distance off the tee and for my level of play easier to find the fairway than with V or X. A little shorter off the fairway wood. Very good feel off the irons. I am playing in the Northeast where it is so wet it's not fair to this ball at this time of year as temperatures are low I will have to retry in late May.
    Thank you again:

Dear Titleist, I've been a longtime Team Titleist member and would provide great on-the-course reviews. Please select me for reviewing balls again - I was sent 2011, 2013 and 2015 test balls but have been forgotten for 2017 and so far this year.
  19. Thanks for kicking off this forum Abby. Thanks also to team TT for including me in testing this year. I’ve played three rounds rotating the 2019 Proto with 2018 V1 to frame my feedback, which is very positive (except only for one area of game). I hope your team and others will appreciate testing feedback as much as I’ve enjoyed reading others’ comments.

Playability: Overall high marks for Proto 2019. I feel this is a more forgiving edition compared to the recent few years. Kudo’s to your R&D team in general. I’ll share more detail below where it shines best in my game, and also the only area I thought traded-off performance.

Durability: I agree with others that the cover wear seems better in the Proto in terms of nicks, scuffs, cuts in normal play. Though, “spoiler alert”, since ball flight was much improved in terms of holding line and controlling side-spin, I couldn’t find as much trouble as I normally would!

Off the tee: Proto did feel hotter off the driver face, but important to note it’s not heavy or clicky. I infer this means I was compressing the ball well, and saw improved performance in distance, depending on type of shot shape, of 3-9 yards in range. Proto REALLY SHINED the most for me in controlling side-spin in off-center hits – for this it would earn a place in my bag right away. You can still shape a proto-shot without over spinning. One round was played in 1-2 club wind conditions – Proto could hold the intended line of shot shape into the wind well, but didn’t seem to accelerate spin when a ball inadvertently ended up being shaped by the wind. Really loved this area of improvement, which would have been one of my core requests to R&D. I didn’t see higher ball flight that others have mentioned, but carry distance was perceptibly better (likely with reduced backspin). I haven’t had time to try the Proto on Trackman to confirm stats vs. perceptions.

Long irons/fairway metals: Here’s an area where I did see an improvement in higher ball-flight, but happily not ballooning. Carry distance, control on off-center hits and better predictability on roll-out were all improved. Ball felt great again on the face of fairways, with a bit hotter feel. Irons felt smooth and not clicky, so there was a nice balance in softness to cover and core. There was enough feel for players to understand where the ball was struck on the face.

Mid irons: Again here I saw a little higher ball-flight, but off-center hits control was where I’d again vote as Proto’s most improved characteristic. While with higher flight it would seem odd to use the word “penetrating” flight as well, but I can’t think of how to describe how shots seemed to hold into a side-wind better than earlier editions. I was concerned that higher flight might cut short carry distances, but I was very happy to find the Proto shining again by not giving up anything, and actually gaining a little. The other clear improvement in mid-irons for me was controlled stopping power. I’m not a huge backspin player, so its clear the Proto’s formulation added to my game by providing better check and stop on approach shots.

Short game: Building on how the mid-irons showed improvement in check and stop - - short game performance was MUCH better in generating backspin for stopping power. My wedges are well loved, with dull grooves at this point of season, so its clear that the cover grip and compression is well-tuned for the reduced speeds of wedge swings. Low approach chips had me smiling constantly as control of rollout was clearly improved. I’d be playing these balls immediately if I could acquire more. The soft feel was a very pleasant surprise to be matched with the hotter long-game club-face feedback. It’s as if these balls were designed with my feedback in mind in advance.

Putting: As background, I realize everything can’t be perfected in a balanced design; and "feel" in putting is very personal. That said, Proto didn’t excel (yet) for me with the flat-stick. Control and roll was solid, as you’d expect from a V1. Proto does feel different - softer and more muted in feedback. I’d personally prefer a little more feedback from strikes and Proto’s soft feel continues even through off-center hits. As result, I found distance control just a tad more difficult than how I’m dialed-in to the 2018 V1. I’m confident practice time would solve my transition. In every other area the Proto performed so well that I’d happily invest time to dial-in to Proto's softer putting feel.

Thanks again to TT and R&D for including me in testing.

Gotta say one of my Team Titleist buddies I golf with gave me one of his prototypes today.

I love it. Cant say it feels like a v or a x from last year. Almost feels like a pro v1x with a blend of the AVX.

Distance was about the same (however the ground is wet and got no roll)
The control within 100-115 yards was exceptional . This is where the “feel” to me mattered most.
The ability to spin it as much if not more than a pro v1x surprised me at first due to having thought I missed the yardage until I saw my crater on the green.

Overall, I wish a had a few more to play a few more rounds with, but I do think they will be a great addition to the #1 ball in golf.

Which ball will be the lower spinning ball this year? I have always played the x ball, but was not real impressed with this last iteration of the Prov1x.
