For me it is the Nikon Cool Shot range finder. I had a few GPS, I like the shoot to a target method better, I found some GPS to have a lag finding yardages.
  3. Bushnell tour x rangefinder it's really good mate.

I use a Garmin GPS. I don't have to aim it at a flag and maybe lock in on a tree behind the green instead of the flag. I can get yardages to lay ups over blind hills or non line of sight. Yes lazers my be more exciting but I can move the target point. And usually get within 3 yards of a Lazer.

I use both a Bushnell laser and a Garmin G20 watch. The rangefinder is good to have for finding exact distances to hazards and the pin, but sometimes I find that I focus more on hitting to the pin where I should be focusing on the middle of the green, which is information that the watch provides. The watch acts similar to an Apple Watch and receives notifications from your phone. Both are nice to have on the golf course.
  6. For me, its Golf Logix Premium on the Apple Series 2 42mm watch. Without a doubt the best I've ever used. It has GPS in 3D and tells me everything I need to know. I don't have to carry anything with me, its just on my wrist.
  7. I tend to use a good old fashioned map and a compass when I'm playing poorly.

In all seriousness, why not use range finder and a GPS to get the best of both worlds?

    Leupold. Hands down the best.
  9. I use Bushnell V4 on course its awesome for getting distance to hazards and on Par 3's especially. I just got Arccos 360 and its so cool. It tracks and records your round as you play, gives current yardage, and club suggestions based on your stats.

Thank you for your opinions. All the feedback helps. Leaning towards a watch and a range finder.

I like some others had a Leupold before it was stolen. I recall it. Ring a GX4?? Adjusted for incline/decline which was very useful. I liked the accuracy and distances to anything I wanted with no annual fees unlike some GPS units. But I am strongly considering some of the newer Garmin GPS options that also include slope. If I get a GPS instead of a laser it must have the slope option.

I use my Bushnell range finder. Even when I am playing a course with GPS. I like knowing exact yardages to the pin and other objects. GPS can have a margin of error that can be a couple of yards. It's really helped me dial in my club selection and I'm hitting more greens as a result.
  13. Nicholas,
I use the Golf Shot app on my phone that syncs to my Apple Watch. That way I just have to glance at my watch for distances and club recommendations.

I use both. I use a GPS unit (Garmin G7) and a rangefinder (Bushnell Tour X). The GPS gives you hole layout information and yardages when you do not have line of sight. The rangefinder gives you more exact yardages. I tend to use the GPS for drives and the rangefinder with approach shots.
