I have been using a Leupold Range Finder. I have been VERY happy with it and the View Finder and the Optics are really amazing! I typically use this device for Shooting the Flag, front yards of Greens, and any hazards that are visible. I tend to trust the "Line of Sight" distance then GPS units that seem to be different depending on the unit.

This company makes high end optics for firearms.

I use a rangefinder. The club where I'm a member also has GPS carts, but more often than not, since I tend to play early in the morning the updated pin positions aren't loaded, so they could be off by 5-10 yards in either direction. I use a Leupold GX3i that I love, it doesn't have slope since I let my son use it during his golf season at school.

If you're interested in getting exact yardages to the pin, then get the Bushnell with the slope reading. I feel it's the best.

I use both, a rangefinder and GPS. GPS is great in general, especially when there are blind shots. But you can't beat a rangefinder when you really need the distance to the pin.

I have been using a range finder for years. They are great when you are on the range and working are dialing in your shot lengths. My does have the slope technology and have it to be accurate.
  6. Rangefinders are a valuable tool to me. I can know exactly what specifics measurements are on the course. Many books and gps items are good but do not provide exact measurements, they just get me into the ball park.

    IMHO, Chris

I have a Garmin watch and once in a while the yardages go a little out of whack so for me I like having the range finder just to confirm. If I had to choose one over the other I would choose the range finder.

My question would be the opposite... Why wouldn't you have a range finder. It's so valuable to able to determine exact distances to pins, hazards, lay-up areas, tree-lines, etc.. They are truly invaluable!!!
    I highly recommend.
