Started playing with my Dad when I was 12, I would follow him around and putt behind him and worked my way backwards from the green to the tees. I am now 41 and my 12 year old has picked up the sticks a couple of years ago and is loving the game! I love watching his development within the JR PGA, how much he has matured and has become a polite young man. Best game ever!

I started playing in my early 20’s and I love it! My husband got me into and now we love playing new courses together!!
  4. Started playing at 26...and have only been playing for a little over 2 years. I have watched my game get more consistent the more I play and have found myself thoroughly addicted. Wish I would've started sooner!

I started hitting balls in my parent's backyard that backs up to an elementary school park when I was 8. It took them two years to realize I was hitting cross handed with the small set of righty clubs I had. Started taking youth group lessons when I was about 11 or 12 and continued every summer until about 13. Played one year of high school golf, but that was enough for me given where I live (North Dakota), went back to baseball, and then picked up golf again once I quit playing baseball and hockey.
  6. I remember seeing pictures of me learning to stand via Fischer Price plastic clubs. I know my first real set was gifted to me when I turned 5... my dead cut down a few old irons for me along with a 3 or 5 wood. I’m now 30 years old and still going strong playing with my pops... currently trying to get him back into the game after having both of his knees replaced

I took up golf in 1994 age 16, then gave it up in 1996. Women and cars got the better of me. I got down to 6 handicap and was the first junior to with the gents club championship handicap.

I got back into golf 4 years ago, and now I can’t get enough of it!!
If I’m not playing or practicing, I help the green keeping staff at my local club lol

I’m not sure when I officially started playing, but it was before I was 13, as that summer I played in my first tournament. My Dad was a HS golf coach and I rode the cart with him a bunch. He taught me to play on a Par 3 course in our town, and once I showed I could hit those greens in one swing he said I could finally play a real golf course. I guess I had to have been 8 o 9.... I’m 50 now.

    I know - too late!!!
Played Cricket, Rugby & Football (Soccer) in season from an early age - no time for golf.
Who wanted to play a game where the better you are, the less times you get to hit the ball???
I got over my golf phobia when I got too old and for the other stuff and found out just what I'd been missing...

As long as I can remember! We had an open lot next to the house I grew up in and I remember hitting wedges back and forth on that lot..
  15. Started playing when I was 17 so it’s been 30 years. Didn’t play much for about the last 10 years but now playing fairly regular. Love life, wife, and golf!!

I used to hit plastic balls around my backyard until I was 5. On my 5th birthday, my mother took me to Seneca Golf Course in Louisville, Kentucky and I got to play most of 9 holes with a set of clubs the pro, Joe Lally, had cut down for me.

I'll be 70 on May 10th, te 65th anniversary of me playing this game.

Golf started for me at the age of 35, it feels like it was just yesterday... still encouraged to go out and work on something. Still looking forward to the next round. Still get the butterflies in my gut on the first tee. Still hear my knee knocks on a three footer for less. Still commend anyone whom had made shots and played well in a round. Still take my hat off to shake my playing partners/opponent(s) hands and thank them for the game. Still put on golf wardrobe on a course. Still shaken by the pros on TV in what they are capable of doing...

Junior Golf at 10, played High School Golf, quit at 32, started again at 48 and I'm now 55 7/8. (26 more days) I play smarter now but score about the same as I did in high school so I'm content with that...NOT!!!

I started playing in grade school, maybe 7th or 8th grade when a classmate kept bugging me to play golf. I had no interest until he said it was a game you can play for the rest of your life. That made sense to me and I am still crazy about the game, more than ever. I still walk, carry my bag and play 50+ rounds a year. I turn 76 in June.
