    Irons: TMB 716 w/ Project X 6.0 4-W
    Wedges: SM7 54° M grind • SM7 58° K grind
    Putter: Newport 2
    BALL: 2020 AVX
    LOCATION:

    50° Clear light breeze
DISTANCE: Gonna come right out the gate and say it, this ball is hot. Thought I had my distances down warming up at the range and with a cold morning, extra layer, shorter swing and sore shoulder led to a 10 yd reduction in distance which is understandable. That is until I hit my first approach shot and airmailed the green. I can’t wait until spring/summer with a healthy swing to see what this ball can really do distance wise
FEEL: The overall sensation when playing ball is a soft and solid feel. The ball feels like it jumps off the face on full shots and that soft feel flows through every shot even down to putting. The 2020 AVX and a Scotty Newport 2 is what I’d like to believe is how putting should feel.
SPIN/CONTROL: The AVX does an amazing job and strikes, what I feel, is a perfect balance of spin and control. Drives were so predictable with the slightest of fades (my natural flight) that I was stepping into tee shots taking aggressive lines on a course I never played before with complete confidence. Approach shots were sticking the green on the yardage and that’s exactly what I’m looking for. And for such a straight off the tee ball the green side control is excellent and took very little time to get acclimated with the ball.
DURABILITY: After reading that they had thinned out the cover I am convinced they are making these balls with some sort of sorcery. Before I eventually lost the first ball on the 11th hole the ball showed little wear even after hitting multiple wedges and trees. Attached are pictures the second ball I played the rest of the round with, which if washed would look practically brand new. Amazing

I am surprised at the performance of this ball. At 65, I have lost a little clubhead speed but still managed to pump a few 250 even against a cool breeze in Ventura, CA. The biggest assest though is the feel around the greens where I can still spin my chips and wedges. Durability is pretty good also. It's a good alternative to both Pro V's which I like in certain conditions. FYI HDCP is 5.4.

First of all, I would like to personally thank Titleist for letting me be one of the ones that was able to get the Brand New AVX Ball to try out.
I would also like to apologize for the delayed response. I had a minor hand injury that delayed my chances of playing.

I was able to play a full round with the ball.

Off the tee, the distance was great. Seemed like a little bit further than the previous AVX model. I am not a big hitter, but it sure gave me more confidence than before. I am assuming it is because of the decrease in spin.

The feel was great! Felt amazing off the driver, irons and putter. Felt like a Pro V1 minus the amount of spin.

The spin is what made it so great for me! It seemed like it was definitely the amount of spin that I want. Hitting off the sand and the fringe, I was able to keep the amount of spin to a minimum in comparison to any other ball.

The control because of the spin was unreal! I was able to keep everything in a putt-able distance within 10-15 feet in comparison to 20-25 feet from the pin.

This ball is definitely going to be my gamer until the newer AVX comes into play.

    Again, THANK YOU Titleist!

I have been a ProV1x player since the beginning, and haven’t found a better ball for me until now.

I like the softer feeling golf balls of other brands but never got the performance that the ProV1x’s gave me. However, now that I’ve had a couple of seasons with the AVX, and now testing the new AVX ball, I can say I’m getting the soft feeling I wanted, along with the performance I had come to expect from a ProV1x ball and I’m experiencing a similar or better distance with the new version of AVX. I seem to be gaining a couple of yards with the new ball.

I generally have a higher ball flight and am a decently long hitter. My higher ball flight generally doesn’t present a problem with these stopping on the greens, even with longer approach shots using my long irons.
The AVX seem to cut through the wind better than the ProV1x’s. It also has decent roll out in the fairways.

I like the way they perform around the green - total confidence and control with these - I trust these will check up and roll consistently, maybe not quite as much check as the ProVs, but perfect for my game. Let’s be real I’m not spinning my balls back on the greens much these days, but they are stopping and holding perfectly. and yeah, every now and then I can get them to spin back.

And with the putter, that soft feeling and sound feel great to me and I get all the feedback I need.

I gamed the AVX last season for a few months. I did find that these performed beyond my expectations. I noticed the biggest difference in my driving distance and rollout in the fairway. I play on a very hilly course and it’s often very windy so it’s sometimes hard to tell just how far you hit the ball if you were on a flat course. But these performed really well in windy conditions. I’m definitely interested in trying the newest version of the AVX.
  6. Question: is the trajectory of the 2020 version higher, lower, or the same? Thanks!

The AVX ... I love this ball so far. And this is coming from a religious V1 user.

DISTANCE: This ball seems to stay in the air with a nice boring trajectory that just goes. Even in the cold weather that we are still having, it compares distance wise with the V1 for sure. I can’t wait until spring/summer to see what this ball can really do.

FEEL: coming from the previous AVX, this version is definitely softer for sure. Not much of an audible "click" like before. I assume we can attribute this to the new core & softer feeling cover. Great off the driver & irons & putter.

SPIN/CONTROL: Since I've started playing the AVX I've hit more fairways than usual. The best part of my game has been off the tee & around the green. I'm not much of a spin player that relies on the ball to back up, but this ball does for me. Which I was pleasantly surprised with. A few buddies said "Wow, never seen that out of you before." I hit a few shots into greens that were cut fairly short but were still hard from the cold, so it barely made a ball mark until later in the day. The AVX backed up twice with ease & one time it nearly went into the hole for an eagle! It was half of a resolution away from going in! I didn't see it back up but you could see where the ball mark was in relation to the hole, so it backed up a good 3 yards. (in hindsight I should have taken a pic of the ball on the green. It was a great shot! LOL) Control into greens is great for sure. I can have the confidence to fire at any flag and know that the ball is going to stop. Off the tee, the ball seems to hold it's line really well. My fade's are not as pronounced, hence why I'm hitting more fairways. And the few I've missed haven't been far off.

This could have become my new gamer! It's nice to know that Titleist took all of our comments about the previous version to heart & addressed them in this version. It is a great ball so far in only 3 rounds in the cold. Can't wait to play it in warmer weather.

    Great job once again Titleist!

I still think that a mail (male?) person in between the shipment source and where I live is an avid golfer and knows what's in the package.

I haven't received a test package in almost 5 years, its worst than not ever being selected because you know you wish they send a sample again, but never receive one.

Glad I'm on Team Titleist though, I still get info from you all.
  9. I have played my last 3 rds with this ball and it is absolutely amazing!!! It’s long off the tee box, feels soft off my irons, very receptive around the greens. I’m actually considering switching to this golf ball full from the Pro V1. Excellent ball

my swing speed is 96, I love the greenside spin but have trouble sometimes with too much spin off the tee; maybe the AVX would be better for me than the Pro V1

Feel.. With Driver and 3wood and 5 wood, it seemed to come off the club head faster.. not much roll, but quieter than last years ball..

Distance.. 275yards with old Driver, 280-285 with New TS2 10.5 working more club head speed..

Spin.. more spin with 4 iron to pw.. Around the green the feel and spin are nice..

Control.. With the irons was good, not much roll out..

Got to play in dry weather, Putting was great, with a nice feel off the Studio Style Newport 2
I have played with the Pro v x for many years, I have tried other golf balls but still love Titleist.

    Thank you.

I just started playing the AVX this Spring. I have always played the ProV1 or X. I found that this is a great ball for the driver and approach shots for me. However, I was really struggling with my short game and I couldn't figure it out until I lost an AVX and grabbed a ProV1x out of the bag and just played it. I had hit a delicate chip and I had been struggling with those. I hit the X and it spun and then trickled to the hole. It dawned on me at that point that the AVX need to be played as more of a runner, at least for me. I am a 8HC. I think the tradeoff is worth it because my driver can get me in trouble and I have never hit so many straight drives in my life as I do now.

Hi, great.. sounds like we have a new guy on the block. As a Team Titleist member, I was surprised I was not able to test the NEW AVX. Having said that the low handicappers probably are in a better position to evaluate the new AVX BALL on the BLOCK. Looking forward to reviewing the reviews,, thank you fellow golfers. :)

I played in a Team Titleist Ohio event and received a sleeve as a gift from TT. I have always been a pro v guy but I must say the AVX did not disappoint, good distance, a good roll off the putter face and good feel around the green but the pro v I feel is better in the short game. Thanks TT for offering a forum.

  18. Just started using the ball a week ago end I have got more distance off the tee , end irons , end short game feel . Just found my new golf ball . Thanks team Titleist keep it up
  19. I’ve been using pro v1 for years end love the ball , but For my swing speed end overall game this ball has definitely improved my overall game
  20. Bought the 3 dozen, get one dozen free of the AVX yellow, last few years bought the Prov1x at age 75 needed a few more yards off the tee and the AVX lets me hit it lower and get a few more yards off the roll. The yellow ball is easier to see in the air and performs just as well as the white balls.
