  2. I ordered a Phantom 5.5 this spring thinking I would replace my Futura from 2017 what I found was the 5.5 feels great and is a nice putter but my buddy wanted it more than I did so I sold it to him. I do however like the feel of the of putters milled from a single piece of metal versus inserts or multi metal heads, but I love my Futura, the look of it seems inspiring to me , makes me think I can make everything because it seems easy to line up. With all that said I ordered a Phantom X 7, it has that same inspiring look and is solid milled ,can’t wait to get it !

    I HAVE A 2016 SELECT NEWPORT 2.5.
  4. Well my gamer in summer is my t22 Newport, but I do have a 2014 fastback and a 2021 phantom x5.5.

However when we got to autumn I made my switch and didn’t settle with either the fastback or the phantom, so I went looking for a blade. I found a 2010 California Monterey for a bargain price and it’s now in the bag!

Currently gaming a 2020 Special Select Newport 2.5. I have been fortunate enough to have a few Scotty Cameron putters including a 1995 Sonoma Classic and a 2020 Special Select Newport. I like the slant-neck over the plumber, but I am really liking the setup for my eye and stroke with the Newport 2.5.

Currently gaming a 2020 Special Select Newport 2.5. I have been fortunate enough to own 3 Scotty Cameron putters - this being my 3rd. I had a 2020 Special Select Newport and a 1996 Classic Sonoma. I prefer the slant neck putter over the plumbing neck, and the smaller slant neck of the 2.5 sets up great for my alignment and stroke.

Am back with my SC Special Select (2020) Newport 2. Purchased the png PLD matte milled Anser putter and played with it for about two months, thinking it might be my new gamer. Even took it to the Team Titleist Invitational in September, under the disguise of a generic headcover. Did not fool my good buddies. Have been working on the Newport 2 and my coach told me on Friday that I needed to flatten my setup and suggested that I take it to our favorite fitter and repair shop and have them change the lie to 1* flat. He has been working with me to flatten my lie when striking the ball. It has helped and accomplished that task on Monday afternoon. Hope I can cut some strokes off my score. The Newport 2 is back in the back where she belongs. Hakuna matata.

Have a Newport Select 2.5, love the feel and look of it. It replaced an Odyssey blade putter I had.

Then, I stumbled across a FLowback 5.5 MOTO this spring. I've been using that as my gamer this year. It took a little bit to get used to the look at address, but after a month (20 rounds) it's become rock solid. Most 1 putt misses are a tap in 2 putt, though there aren't many of those. Putt average went down from 1.7 per hole to 1.4 per hole

    Love it to death!!
  10. Well finally decided to pull the trigger…….

Just bought today the new 2020 Special Select Squareback 2 in a 35”

Super happy with it so far, after getting a rudimentary fitting.

Replacing an Odyssey O-Works 1 wide and man what a difference!!!

Love the feel off the face, but the balance is amazing and having a slightly longer shaft helped tremendously with my eye positioning.

Also, love the shaft offset and much cleaner lines at address, so pleased.

Now, finally, my entire bag is Titleist

Just changed from a Newport to a Special Select Newport 2.5. Prior to the Newport I had a Newport 2. I tinker with putters, give old ones away for others to enjoy. My FIL and SIL are happy recipients of prior putters.

Current gamer is the phantom x 5.5

In reserve are a Newport 2.5
And an Evnroll ER 2 blacked out.

Lots more in deep reserve. I never get rid of putters. A hard and fast rule!

I also have a lot of putters in reserve despite proclaiming years ago that the reason golfers putt better with a new putter is because of the first activity that comes with a new putter - time on the practice green!

That being said, newer technology such as tuned grooving on putter faces has intrigued me. I've tried png with their grooves (works nicely, but head weight is way too low for me) which is pretty good for distance control on 'lag' putts even if struck off the percussion center. Cleveland is pretty good as well if a bit too soft due to the insert backing.

Thus, I thought I would try mallet style (high MOI) putters such as a Phantom 6s (older version, a bit soft in feel and a bit light), which was OK but didn't help me actually convert longer putts. So, my next attempt was a Phantom 5, which doesn't feel quite right despite adding heavier weights. It doesn't have the right 'swing feel' to me.

So, these experiments are temporarily shelved while I went back to a Studio Select 2.7 (single bend shaft, blade style, and no/nearly no flow). I tend to make everything inside 4' with this, which is nice, and I've had occasional success with 10' and longer from time to time. I just can't take this out of the bag. This was a 'used barrel' find, a bit roughed up and cut down to 33.5" when I rescued it. It is now at 34.5" and with heavier weights plus a lot of lead tape. Anyone who has played golf with me recently has told me to keep it in the bag!
